Shortcutz Berlin – Session #56 (June 7)



This week’s Competition Shorts are:

Short #1: “Wenn die Kühe Glocken Tragen,” by Christian Günzler
2012, 12 min
Synopsis: Peter is in love with his best friend Johannes. While the cattle is driven back from their summer residence down into the valley, their two different concepts of life collide… COWS AND BELLS is a film about friendship and the courage to find happiness.

Short #2: “Haltlos”  by Tim Dünschede
2012, 14 min
Synopsis: Tuesday, 12 April 2011 is written under the proud letters „FRANKFURTER TAGEBLATT“. It is a sunny, warm day. It is the day when a single mother in her small, cosy kitchen has to fight the fiercest struggle of her life. In order to save what means more to her than anything else in the world, she goes a hard way.

This Week’s Guest Short: “Kurzschluss” by Miriam Frank, Georg Utz & Xaver Xylophon
2009, 7 min
Synopsis: “Kurzschluss” is a tragic love story and an homage to old Hollywood classics about a melancholic robot who passionately falls in love with a bottle return machine.

Our Special Guest for this week is filmmaker Matthias Fritsch. Matthias’ filmic works focuses on issues of authorship and property, that have recently enjoyed a heightened interest within the context of open distribution channels on the Internet. He traces the potential and boundaries of related cultural practices by way of participation. For our Session Matthias will bring along musicans: Tom Foerderer  with electronics and his collegue Jörg Tannenberg on the Guitar and Loopmachine, who will accompany  the following three silent shorts: “EggLove”(Birgit Moeller, 3:30min), “Cerini” (Giovanni De Roia, 1:32min) and “Wintersong” (Matthias Fritsch, 6:30min). He will be also shortly talking about some of the platforms that he is involved in: IFN berlin,  Open Screenings and Moving Silence.

us at the Filmkunst Bar FitzcarraldoReichenberger Straße 133 in Kreuzberg. The session starts as always at 8:30 pm and the screening at 9 pm. Entrance is and will remain free.
