This Week Guest Short: “Kafarnaum” (Capernaum) by Jasco Viefhues.
Germany, 2009, 24:00 min
Synopsis: Kafarnaum tells the story of young Caro full of emotions but at the same time as hard as life can be. Caro is torn between her sick mother, her job in a surgery and her affair. Stress and love, care and frustration merge into a daily routine – until this routine finally changes for good.
Our Special Guest for this week is Rick Minnich. Rick Minnich is an American independent filmmaker based in Berlin, Germany, He began his film career in the early 1990s, documenting on celluloid the sweeping changes in Berlin and Eastern Europe following the end of the Cold War while musing about the American homeland he left behind. Some critics refer to Rick’s films as “an insider’s view from the outside.” Well, who knows? Things should be clearer for us on Thursday evening.
And, don’t forget: We are now at the Filmkunst Bar, Reichenberger Straße 133 in Kreuzberg, the session starts at 8:30 pm and the screenings at 9 pm. Entrance is and will remain free, don’t hesitate to show up.
